Chocolate Banana Popsicles

1 cup coconut milk or cream, canned

2 ripe bananas, ideally frozen

¼ cup cacao powder (or cocoa powder)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 large pinch sea salt

2 tablespoons raw honey (optional)

¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)



Mix ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into 6 popsicle molds, or ice cube trays and freeze. To remove run mold under hot water for 10-30 seconds. Enjoy!

Why I like this:

The banana dippers have sugar and soy lecithin. Both ingredients you should try to avoid. I make them without the honey, but if you like sweeter, honey is a great sweetener because it has some health benefits, where sugar has NONE. Honey is anti viral, anti micro bacterial, has amino acids, minerals, vitamins and other bioactive stances. It is easier to digest that sugar because the nector added by the bees has enzymes that break down the sugar, allowing it to be directly absorbed. Sugar is absorbed in the small intestine where it can feed the bad gut flora and requires help from the liver to digested and absorbed. Soy lecithin is obviously derived from soy which is one of the most highly GMO foods. Not to mention soy is a phytoestrogen and can cause unhealthy hormonal shifts.
